What We Use

Irida uses only essential browser localStorage — not cookies in the traditional HTTP sense — to store a single interface preference: whether you have previously dismissed the cookie notice banner. This is the only piece of browser storage this site writes to.

Why It Exists

The localStorage entry named irida_cookie_consent is written when you interact with the cookie notice banner (by accepting or declining). Its sole purpose is to prevent the banner from reappearing on every page visit. Without it, the banner would be displayed every time you load a page.

What It Does Not Do

This site does not use:

• Analytics cookies or analytics platforms of any kind
• Advertising or retargeting cookies
• Third-party tracking pixels
• Session recording or heatmap services
• Behavioural profiling tools
• Marketing or remarketing cookies
• Any form of cross-site tracking

No personal data is stored in this localStorage entry. Its value is either accepted or declined, reflecting only your interaction with the interface element.

Disabling Storage

If you disable localStorage in your browser settings or use a private/incognito window, this preference cannot be saved. As a result, the cookie notice banner will appear each time you visit the site. No other functionality of the site is affected.

Third Parties

Irida does not load any third-party scripts that could set their own cookies or access browser storage. The only external resource loaded is a Google Fonts stylesheet for typography, which operates under Google's own privacy terms. Google Fonts, when loaded via a stylesheet link, does not set cookies in standard configurations.
